You have the right to remain silent.

I once told my cousin about 1 Corinthians 14:34-35. She said to me – no one is going to take my voice. I imagine most ladies feel this way about these verses. But ladies consider this: ignorant and weak men have allowed you to speak in Church against the word of God.

These men have no right to say that you can speak in Church. They have overstepped their bounds.

We’ve all heard the expression silence is golden. And to be honest some men on judgement day would be better off having exercised their right to remain silent.

Ladies you may be put off by this New Testament law of Christ, but hear it and observe it and in the end Christ will honor your female spirit for honoring his word in subjection.

1 Timothy 2:12-13 KJV
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. [13] For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

It Is Written

There is a principle that I stand by, God will not go against his word. If you hear or see something that tells you to go against the Holy Bible you should know that that influence is not of God.

I know no woman is called to preach or teach in the Church. How do I know this?

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 KJV
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. [35] And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

I know Jesus didn’t cover his head to pray with a tallit. How do I know this?

1 Corinthians 11:4 KJV
Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

If you know the written word you will know the truth well enough to try what you hear and see.

Courageous Women

Fear is a killer. Both men and women fall prey to it. People don’t confess their sins according to 1 John 1:9 for various reasons, one of them is fear of what others may think.

Don’t die in your sins. Read 1 John 1:9 and James 5:16 and follow them.

Courageous women overcome peer pressure and the fear of what others may think, everyday, but can they do it in Church. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 tells us unequivocally that women should remain silent in Church.

Simply attending church exposes some problems that women may encounter. They need to be courageous in order to keep God’s law. As soon as you walk in the door someone is saying hello to you. You need to ignore them or maybe arrive right at the start of the service. Perhaps wave, but if you keep God’s word on this matter you surely will be talked about. It’s even possible that ignorant preachers will bid you to talk to them or to the people seated next to you. Again you need to be separate and remain silent. Men can’t alter the law of God which is why when a preacher asks women to speak in church I have dubbed it a call to shame.

Women can truly be courageous, but it helps if they know the law. Hosea 4:6 KJV says, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge … .

Defining Behavior

People define God’s law as they see fit. Instead of stretching definitions to suit our own benefit, what if we strictly defined the law in accordance with God’s original intent.

Exodus 20:13 KJV Thou shalt not kill. Seems clear enough, but man changes it to thou shalt not murder. We search out excuses. It’s okay in war, it’s okay in self defense, it’s okay if someone breaks into your home, it might be okay if adultery was involved, maybe there are extenuating circumstances, maybe it’s only manslaughter.

Exodus 20:9-10 KJV …thou shalt not do any work,… Yet, man says it’s not work if it was necessary. It’s not work if you wanted to do it. Even if it was work, surely God won’t hold it against me.

If you’ve never read Corinthians you may skip this paragraph. For those of you desirous of learning and keeping the law, keep reading. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 seems pretty clear. The only question is what is Church. Is it a building? Is it a time? Is it a combination of the two? Is it whenever and wherever two or more are gathered together in Christ’s name? This like all of God’s law depends on the heart of the listener.

When you read or hear the law seek understanding. When you have understanding seek strength. When you find yourself seeking excuses – you should know you are definitely walking in the wrong direction.

When you realize your walking in the wrong direction, there remains 1 John 1:9. Turn and define (live) the law favorably within God’s original intent. Why? Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:14 KJV

Superbowl LIV Hypocrisy

An attempted theme for the most recent Superbowl was the empowerment of women.

Yet the halftime show of Superbowl LIV appeared to be a competition between two beautiful women. Which one had the best physical assets and which one could shake those assets the fiercest and the sexiest. My elderly mother said of the halftime show she thought it was dirty.

So if the theme was empowerment of women, I think the producers of the Superbowl fell short. The message should have been you don’t have to be a female lesbian to coach or play football and you don’t have to strip to sing well.

Led

Some might say that my writing highlights the negative more than the positive. So following are positive comments on the state of Christ’s Church. They are worthy to be dwelled upon, shared with others, and emulated:

The Church of Christ denomination understands baptism. Both they and I believe baptism is by complete immersion in water in the name of Jesus or in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. We further believe baptism should be at an age of understanding – where the youth can differentiate between good and evil, repent of sin, and understand the significance of being baptized into the family of God.

The Catholic Church accepts confession.

The Amish and Mennonite women cover their heads when they pray.

Russians greet one another with a Holy Kiss.

Equal

I heard Pat Robertson say some troubling things on the 700 Club today.

1. Jesus has clearly said men and women are equal and in the Church they may hold any position.

2. There were deaconesses in the early Church.

If the Bible said that Mr. Robertson why not offer a verse?

How about…

1 Timothy 2:12 KJV
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

There is no evidence that either of these statements made by Mr. Robertson are correct except by the tradition of men. As believers we should learn to distinguish between traditions of men and the law of God.

Many who take Pat Robertson’s stance like to point out Aquila and Priscilla.

Acts 18:26 KJV
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

It never says this was done in a church building or that Priscilla held a deaconess position in the Church. Sounds to me more like a dinner conversation.

There has been much said on the news lately about equality and that the U.S. Declaration of Independence states we are all created equal.

The truth is we are not all equal.

As a man can I give birth? Can I play in the NFL or NBA? Am I even welcome at a woman’s only Bible study?

The Holy Bible clearly lays out separate roles for men and women. To be brutally honest, The roles laid out by God are best for both men and women.

They might not enjoy those roles, but they are healthy and meet for Heaven.

Did you know Sarah called her husband Lord. Sadly, I can’t imagine a woman in the USA in today’s society submitting herself so fully to her husband.

Authority

I usually enjoy watching the 700 Club for the Q&A, generally to see if I agree or disagree.

Someone asked about 1 Corinthians 14:34-35. Pat Robertson erroneously said it was only a tradition of Jews at the time. What does 1 Corinthians 14:37 say. I hear the commandment. Why don’t you?

No man not even Pat Robertson has authority to change or overrule a commandment of God. Yet foolish preachers do it all the time. Foolish women respond to those preachers shaming themselves in the house of the Lord.

A Proverbs woman might be nice, but where is the New Testament woman who hears a command from our Lord?
