The Right Question

Twice now I have heard preachers and teachers ask the wrong question.

If women should not speak in Church how then can I teach them? 1 Corinthians 14:34-35.

If we are to separate ourselves from those that cause division how can I teach them? Romans 16:17-18.

The correct question is not how can I fulfill my own desire, but how can I keep the word of the Lord? The desire to teach may seem Holy, but any answer that moves you away from keeping God’s word is incorrect.

Who We Are

You’re probably going to think I have something against Kathy Lee Gifford. Actually I’m a bit of a fan – I really enjoyed the music video “oratorio” The God Who Sees with Nicole C. Mullen.

That being said, she has a penchant for being wrong. On her most recent promotional tour she has a clip on TBN which goes something like this: Why do we think it’s our job to tell others how they should live out their faith? After befriending them, if they ask, then give your advice. Tell them in love as the Bible instructs.

So why is Ms. Gifford wrong? Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19-20 KJV, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We are Christians. If we teach the commandments, by necessity we’re going to tell you what your doing wrong. After we remove the log in our own eye we have the right and duty to try to remove the mote in yours.

Keep in mind, 2 Timothy 3:16 KJV, which says, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

12/21/21 Author’s Note I’ve been rethinking this post. Perhaps I am being too hard on Ms. Gifford. Her version of evangelism is still evangelism.

It Is Written

There is a principle that I stand by, God will not go against his word. If you hear or see something that tells you to go against the Holy Bible you should know that that influence is not of God.

I know no woman is called to preach or teach in the Church. How do I know this?

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 KJV
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. [35] And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

I know Jesus didn’t cover his head to pray with a tallit. How do I know this?

1 Corinthians 11:4 KJV
Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

If you know the written word you will know the truth well enough to try what you hear and see.

God’s Purpose

The Holy Ghost did not come to teach us the law. – Joseph Prince sound byte from Sunday, May 12, 2019

Yes he did. You might not be able to find a verse in the Holy Bible that says I am the Holy Ghost – I have come to teach you the law, but if you believe Joseph Prince you are missing the big picture.

The Holy Ghost helped with the production of the entire Holy Bible from Genesis to Revelation to its translation into the KJV.

2 Timothy 3:16 KJV
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Is the law truth? Is the Holy Ghost the Spirit of Truth? The answer to both is Yes! What is the Holy Ghost’s purpose and goal in teaching men the law?

Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

CLE

Lawyers take CLE, continuing legal education, classes yearly to keep their bar credentials valid and current.

The idea – in keeping current, there’s always room for improvement. We’re never too old to learn new material or to refresh our memory of something we have already learned.

Galatians 3:25 KJV says But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Faith then is our diploma.

Faith, primarily my faith, calls me to try to read the Holy Bible daily. We could call that continuing legal education. God himself recommends CLE. See 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, and 1 Peter 3:15 KJV … be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:.

My faith tells me the Holy Ghost will teach me himself. There are things in the Bible I still don’t understand. There remains wisdom to gain everyday. And there remains room to grow in faith.

James 1:5 KJV If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Mark 9:24 KJV
And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Defined by the Naysayers

Recently a preacher on TBN said, it’s not about religion it’s about relationship with Jesus Christ.

What an excellent definition of religion. My religion is my relationship with Jesus Christ.

And yes it comes with rules such as the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20. It is full of rules and regulations and love. Love to teach me those rules and regulations. Love to die for me and love to help me live.

For once the naysayers have it right. Build a relationship with Jesus by keeping the Father’s will.

To know the Father’s will read, study, and live it out by the example of the Holy Bible. A.K.A the Word, A.K.A Jesus Christ!

3 Points

Three points to ponder.

  1. If the USA was truly a Christian nation we’d still be British.
  2. Don’t try to teach Greek without mastering the English Bible first.
  3. You can’t leave your schoolmaster (the law) behind without graduation.

A Morning Moment

I often forget to acknowledge the Lord in the morning. I typically read the Bible and pray before going to sleep.

It occurred to me, the Lord’s Prayer is intended to be prayed in the morning. Matthew 6:9-13. Here’s why:

Matthew 6:11 KJV
Give us this day our daily bread.

It doesn’t make much sense to pray for our daily bread before we go to sleep and the day is over unless we are praying for the next day.

After several years of praying the Lord’s Prayer, I can’t believe I only noticed it now. We should think when we pray, not just recite.
