Seek and You Shall Find

Have you ever noticed there can be a negative side to the statement seek and you shall find; People often see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear.

If you admire the rich and/or want to be rich then Jesus was wealthy during his earthly ministry. See Matthew 8:20.

If you’re a woman and you want to speak in Church suddenly women pastors can be found in the Holy Bible. See 1 Corinthians 14:34-37.

The two witnesses of Revelation must be Enoch and Elijah because they never died. Hebrews 9:27 might seem to be a natural law, but it is not a requirement unto God.

If you want something enough you can change scripture to find the answer you are seeking. But ask yourself, are you truly seeking the answer or do you already have the answer in mind?

It Is Written

There is a principle that I stand by, God will not go against his word. If you hear or see something that tells you to go against the Holy Bible you should know that that influence is not of God.

I know no woman is called to preach or teach in the Church. How do I know this?

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 KJV
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. [35] And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

I know Jesus didn’t cover his head to pray with a tallit. How do I know this?

1 Corinthians 11:4 KJV
Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

If you know the written word you will know the truth well enough to try what you hear and see.

Pretty Woman

Proverbs 31:10 KJV Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

My bible app defines virtuous by note as lit. wife of valor. This definition seems at first glance to be erroneous, yet with further inspection it could be found partially accurate.

First, I believe a virtuous woman can be single. She doesn’t need to marry.

Secondly, virtuous in my opinion means chaste while valor means courageous or brave.

So how do you resolve this seemingly odd definition. A woman who is chaste is also brave. She has learned to place great value upon herself. She has through daily living developed the intelligence and personal strength to be chaste or virtuous, which is also defined by Merriam-Webster as righteous or morally excellent.

Superbowl LIV Hypocrisy

An attempted theme for the most recent Superbowl was the empowerment of women.

Yet the halftime show of Superbowl LIV appeared to be a competition between two beautiful women. Which one had the best physical assets and which one could shake those assets the fiercest and the sexiest. My elderly mother said of the halftime show she thought it was dirty.

So if the theme was empowerment of women, I think the producers of the Superbowl fell short. The message should have been you don’t have to be a female lesbian to coach or play football and you don’t have to strip to sing well.

Beggar in a Blue Suit

I find it amazing that tv personalities can ask you for $1,000 without blinking an eye. They’re asking for you to help the gospel go around the world. I’ve watched many of the Christian channels and the ratio allotted by time seems 90% begging, 10% bible discussion. And sadly it seems that only about 2% of that bible study is accurate and worthwhile. Let them get to the heart of the matter, believe and be baptized!

One of my previous pastors would misuse a verse saying we are to give every Sunday. 1 Corinthians 16:2 KJV does say Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. But every verse should be read in context. This is a one time instruction for a monetary offering to be delivered to the saints at Jerusalem. Can you imagine modern churches giving all their offerings to another community?

Why has giving become so sanitized? Don’t give to the stinky, dirty, hungry man or woman on the street, but use your credit card to give a man 1,000 dollar “seed” without knowing how much is planted in his/her own pocket.

Jesus said the children are free! Matthew 17:26 We as children of God are free. We dont have to give, but if we do 2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV is an example to be followed.

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give ; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Authority

I usually enjoy watching the 700 Club for the Q&A, generally to see if I agree or disagree.

Someone asked about 1 Corinthians 14:34-35. Pat Robertson erroneously said it was only a tradition of Jews at the time. What does 1 Corinthians 14:37 say. I hear the commandment. Why don’t you?

No man not even Pat Robertson has authority to change or overrule a commandment of God. Yet foolish preachers do it all the time. Foolish women respond to those preachers shaming themselves in the house of the Lord.

A Proverbs woman might be nice, but where is the New Testament woman who hears a command from our Lord?

Reserved

1 Timothy 2:11-12 KJV
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. [12] But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

When a woman preaches in a church and says she has a calling from God, I think to myself, No. I tell you many teachers who are men will go to Hell because of poor or false teaching. Yet God has reserved for men the pulpit and the role of Head of the Household.

So when I see women preaching on television I turn the channel. Like the man that calls himself Father or Rabbi, I know they have chosen their own desires over the word of God. Matthew 23:8, Matthew 23:9.

I think in one respect God is trying to make the path to Heaven easier for women. He has reserved to men the role of teacher. Make no mistake teachers of the Word will be judged by the Word, a high standard. Some men would be wise to take a seat and exercise their own right to remain silent.

Habakkuk 2:20 KJV
But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
