Seek and You Shall Find

Have you ever noticed there can be a negative side to the statement seek and you shall find; People often see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear.

If you admire the rich and/or want to be rich then Jesus was wealthy during his earthly ministry. See Matthew 8:20.

If you’re a woman and you want to speak in Church suddenly women pastors can be found in the Holy Bible. See 1 Corinthians 14:34-37.

The two witnesses of Revelation must be Enoch and Elijah because they never died. Hebrews 9:27 might seem to be a natural law, but it is not a requirement unto God.

If you want something enough you can change scripture to find the answer you are seeking. But ask yourself, are you truly seeking the answer or do you already have the answer in mind?

Seeker

I have heard of late, on WayFM and from certain teachers of the Word: “God loves you”, “He loves you more than you know”, or “God adores you, he is pursuing you”. Again, we see someone speaking on God’s behalf. It may be true, but it might not be.

Don’t get me wrong, we are told God is love and that he sent Jesus to gain many sons and daughters. But, if we read the Holy Bible it appears God wants us to pursue him.

Jeremiah 29:13 KJV
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Matthew 6:31-33 KJV
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Love is truly a two way proposition. And if we want love, perhaps we should show love. Jesus said in John 14:15 KJV
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Limitations

If you read my previous post, Healing School, I wanted to clarify a few things.

God can heal whenever, wherever, and however he wants.

Please, don’t think that I’m putting limits on the Lord as some do. In James 5 he tells us how seekers should seek healing and how elders should perform healing.

It is a scripture with promise. It perturbs me when people try to heal other than as prescribed in James. My belief is if people would follow James 5:14-15, the healing success rate would be around 100%. I suppose it’s possible none of the elders could offer prayer in faith, but this could be remedied by seeking prayer at another Church. Seek …

The main problem is no Church that I’ve seen performs James 5 and I suppose that in itself could be indicative of lack of faith.

Seek the Commandments of the Lord

1 Chronicles 28:8 KJV
Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the Lord , and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the Lord your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.

I watch TBN and many a preacher complains about religion being rules and regulations.

If God is going to write his laws upon our hearts and minds, we have to let him. Having an open heart to seek his commandments is the first step. Keeping them is the second.
