Rebels

Star Wars and other movies have turned the words rebel and rebellion into something good. Meanwhile the words religion and legalism have been transformed by hip preachers into something uncool.

They say we are saved by grace and not by works (acts of religion and legalism) but let me ask you a few questions.

  • Is it work for you not to kill?
  • Is it work for you not to bear false witness?
  • Is it work for you not to commit adultery?
  • Is it work for you to respect the name of God?
  • Is it work for you not to make or worship idols?
  • Is it work to take a day off and not work at all?
  • Is it work to respect your mom and dad?
  • Is it work to not steal?
  • Is it work for you to not covet another’s property?

Is it really laborious to keep the law? I admit I’ve had issues with or broken all of these, but as I’ve given my life to Jesus they’ve become easier to keep. You would think not working or causing others to work would be easy, but I’m still not doing well with Sabbath keeping. However, since truly turning to Christ keeping most of the Ten Commandments has not been work at all.

In Romans in the New Testament we are told to love and that love fulfils the law. Romans 13:8, 13:10.

I guess that’s my final question.

  • Is love work?

Rebel against the mainstream. Make you religion Christianity and make part of your relationship with Jesus the keeping of his law.

Crossroads

Two things Jesus’ sacrifice at the cross never did despite what you may have heard:

1. Jesus did not live a perfect sinless life and be crucified so that you wouldn’t have to follow the law. Romans 6:23 tells us the wages of sin is death. This means we must still keep the law of Christ or face eternal damnation (the second death).

2. Jesus did not take your place on the cross so that you would never have to die. While it is unlikely you will be put to death by crucifixion, you or I can still be put to death for our faith. In fact in Revelation Jesus warns us to be faithful unto death. See also John 15:20. This means as Christians that trials, temptations, torture, and even death (physical death) are still real possibilities.

A Living Example

Jesus didn’t come to the Earth and live a perfect sinless life to be a dead sacrifice. He came to be a living example! He wants us to keep his law.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:48 KJV Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Certain men say you cannot be perfect. I don’t believe Jesus would have told us to do something that is impossible. Rather I believe with Jesus all things are possible. He can help us to walk perfectly and sinless before the Heavenly Father.

Remember in Ecclesiastes 12:13 Solomon said, Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Therefore we strive for perfection with Jesus’ aid.

Convenient Context

According to many Christians including pastors, preachers, and teachers you don’t need most of the Holy Bible.

We are no longer under the Old Testament. (True, but it is published bound together with the New Testament for a reason. There is much to learn from the Old Testament and parts of it including the Ten Commandments are incorporated into the New.) So, cut the Old Testament out of your Bible.

The New Testament doesn’t begin until Christ died. So, cut the four gospels out of your Bible.

Letters such as the Corinthians were written only to the Church at Corinth and any Commandments were only for them at that time. So, cut out the Letters to the Churches.

All these cuts make for a very, very light Holy Bible. In the end the only cut that will last is your name from the Book of Life.

When did the New Testament take effect?

The New Testament begins at Matthew 1:1 and ends at Revelation 22:21. KJV

A Testament is generally written before death. In Jesus case it was written by his life and with the aid of his friends. A Testament takes effect after death, but the death of the Testator does not cancel any part of the Testament.

If you don’t want to keep the Sabbath as Jesus and his early followers did or you don’t want to pray the Lord’s supper now because Jesus hadn’t died yet, that is your choice. However, you are errant if you think these examples of living after Jesus are not part of the New Testament.

Another word for Testament is will. The New Testament of the Holy Bible is exactly that. It shows us the will of God through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. In it Jesus is the perfect example of following the Father’s will. And it tells us how we are beneficiaries of God’ will.

When does the New Testament take effect?

You can argue at Jesus’ death.

You can argue at its biblical compilation.

Or you can just accept it begins at Matthew 1:1 and ends at Revelation 22:21.

The Lord’s Prayer

Matthew Six Colon Nine Dash Thirteen Period.

It is still a valid prayer.

Why proclaimed Christians seek to undo the teachings of Jesus I do not understand. Has his kingdom come? Are you standing in the presence of God?

When you pray, remember Matthew 6:9-13. It is the Lord’s instruction. Followers of Jesus keep his words and cherish his every instruction.

Then and Now

Context is important, but so is the big picture. The Holy Bible KJV was written by God and his servants both for you and to you.

There are those that take a chainsaw or wrecking ball to their Bible, picking and choosing what they like. They say the Ten Commandments were for the Jews. Exodus and Deuteronomy were written to them. New Testament commandments don’t apply because letters like Corinthians were written only to the church at Corinth and it only applied then.

If it was good to follow then. It’s probably good to follow now. Rightly dividing the word of God does not mean removing entire books and laws just because you don’t like them. It means correctly identifying God’s commands, teaching them to others, and doing them yourself.

Freedom of Religion

I have heard several times how blessed we are to have freedom of religion and assembly in the U.S. I think the sad, but more accurate truth is that we have freedom in the United States to be lukewarm.

Where is the persecution Jesus promised?

It could be freedom and grace granted by God or it could be Satan has you solidly in his grip.

Do you follow the Ten Commandments? Is the law even preached in your church?

Satan is content to let you be lukewarm.

Don’t be satisfied with it yourself.

A Bargain

I find the idea that a dollar bill is a seed in religious offering distasteful. If you give money with expectation it is no longer a gift. You are seeking to bargain with God.

The Bible says the Lord loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7. It does not say the Lord loveth a cheerful sower.

If you want your dollars to be seed, invest in the stock market or play the lottery. If you want to give to God, give to God.

The Gap

I recently heard a preacher, Robert Morris, state that when we say the scripture is pure and inerrant we mean in their original languages. This creates a gap where millions of opinions emerge. If you have to go back to the original Greek or Hebrew, this leaves room for every single preacher to think themselves language scholars and offer their own opinion or translation of every single verse.

It’s much wiser and easier just to trust in the already completed work of God in the King James Version Holy Bible. Authorized by God to a King’s work. You can trust in the KJV and in the previous work of the Church which decided which books were to become the Holy Bible KJV.

If you are unable to discern and accept God’s previous works, you’re subject to the vain and prideful works of men and women not subject to God’s authority, but rather their own influences.
