Discernment vs. Denomination

Well, I’m back attending the Church of Christ. That is where my mom wants to go and it’s just easier to go there with her.

No changes – they still think singing acapella will get them to Heaven while ignoring the Ten Commandments.

In one breath the preacher says everything is biblically based and in the next he’s proffering false doctrine about sin being either public or private and how you only need to come forward if its public.

I tell you, if you believe this you are likely to die in your unconfessed “private” sin. The bible tells us that if we seek forgiveness after water baptism – we need to confess ours sins. 1 John 1:9. It doesn’t say we need to confess publicly, but God surely already knows. This implies communication to another person. That person may be clergy, a friend, or a spouse. It could be written or spoken, but confession does imply communicating with another.

James 5:16 KJV
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The Rabbi

Not only has Kathy Lee Gifford been led astray from the KJV by earthly rabbis, but in her interview on TBN she said Mary was probably about 14 when she was pregnant with Jesus.

There is absolutely no proof in the Holy Bible that Mary was impregnated through the Holy Ghost at this young age. I do not know how old she was, but I certainly will not be one to accuse God of statutory rape. Nor can I say well it was God I guess that makes it okay.

How can you argue with these rabbinical suppositions and possible lies. Just remember we have one Rabbi – Jesus.

The Rock, The Road,

and how Kathy Lee Gifford went terribly, horribly wrong.

1. She did not understand certain passages of the Bible and apparently had difficulty in particular with the KJV.

2. She put her trust in men who call themselves rabbi and google translator.

3. Her rabbi’s had newly found “wisdom” of the Hebrew and Greek which she put her faith in.

It matters where you put your trust. I put mine in the authorized KJV. Why? Number one the translation was authorized under King James, a King appointed by God. It was done by learned men inspired by the Holy Ghost. It is without error. Most translations are just the hubris of men who say to themselves they are worthy and ignore the warnings in Revelation not to add nor take away from the word of God.

Keep in mind if you accept google translator or the new found “wisdom” of some guru your translation is more recent and probably not as accurate as the KJV. Hebrew has basically been revived from a dying language since around 1950. Greek though still spoken has undoubtedly undergone changes since biblical times.

So did Jesus speak old english? No, but his servants under King James did. If you have trouble understanding, pray to the Lord for understanding, don’t seek out men who call themselves rabbi. We have one Rabbi – Jesus!

Lover

Suppose your dream girl or dream guy gave you a book and said I would like a relationship with you, what I expect from you is in this book. Wouldn’t you read it. Wouldn’t you follow it?

God did exactly that. He came to Earth and gave his life to be in a relationship with us. He wrote a book all about it. It’s called the Holy Bible. Can a relationship actually be a list of do’s and don’ts? It can be. What does Jesus expect from us? What defines a healthy relationship with God?

  • Baptized into the blood. Mark 16:16
  • Read the Holy Bible. Psalm 1
  • Keep the law. John 14:15
  • Confession. 1 John 1:9
  • Prayer. Matthew 6:9-13
  • Fasting. Matthew 6:16-18
  • Attend Church services. Hebrews 10:25
  • Good deeds. Matthew 3:8

This isn’t intended to be an exhaustive list, but it certainly covers the basics. My relationship with Christ over the years hasn’t always looked the same. It is now the strongest it has been in 48 years. Do you know what the Bible has to say about that?

The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger. Job 17:9 KJV

A List

Another preacher, same old nonsense. Christianity isn’t a religion. Christianity isn’t a list of do’s and don’ts. Christianity isn’t religion its relationship.

The problem is these teachers don’t even seem to realize they’re lying. Of course Christianity is religion. And if you’re smart enough to discern them, God offers rather critical do’s and don’ts in the Holy Bible, in places like Exodus 20. Why is it key to understand this? Because Christianity is relationship, which is our religion, which is also a list of do’s and don’ts.

Relationship includes things such as baptism, going to Church services, reading the Bible, keeping the law, loving our neighbors, doing good deeds, etc. It isn’t rocket science, Jesus defined the relationship. Now, it’s our part to live it out in our religion.

Hurt not the Oil and the Wine

There is a spirit in the world today which seeks to spoil the joy of life. It is a spirit of scarcity. It is a spirit of stinginess.

Light – It might not come to mind first, but I believe it even exists in church architecture. Few are the churches that I’ve visited which allow natural light and fewer still with windows that have views of the outdoors.

Water – Baptism is supposed to be by immersion in water. That is in other words by complete submersion of the baptizee. Fresh water is acceptable, saltwater is acceptable, dirty water is acceptable. Yet while the world is virtually covered in water, people baptize (or attempt to baptize) people with a sprinkle of a few drops of water or by pouring from a pitcher.

Oil – Spare the oil and spoil the carpet. James 5:14-15 clearly tells us how God will perform miracles of cures in his churches today. Why is this not performed? Is it for scarcity of oil, lack of belief in God’s word or fear of ruined carpets?

Free Pass

Of late I’ve noticed many a preacher on television say My God, My God or even OMG.

Pastors dont get a free pass to take the name of the Lord God in vain.

I guess their purpose is to establish closeness to the Almighty, but many times to my ears it sounds just like another teenager thoughtlessly taking God’s name in vain.

I don’t think my ears are deceived. Shouldn’t preachers know better and err on the side of caution by setting a better example and showing more reverence?

Led

Some might say that my writing highlights the negative more than the positive. So following are positive comments on the state of Christ’s Church. They are worthy to be dwelled upon, shared with others, and emulated:

The Church of Christ denomination understands baptism. Both they and I believe baptism is by complete immersion in water in the name of Jesus or in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. We further believe baptism should be at an age of understanding – where the youth can differentiate between good and evil, repent of sin, and understand the significance of being baptized into the family of God.

The Catholic Church accepts confession.

The Amish and Mennonite women cover their heads when they pray.

Russians greet one another with a Holy Kiss.

Endrun

Is it the endrun for Jeshurun?

Deuteronomy 32:15 KJV
But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness ; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

Jeshurun or Israel has forsaken God, not by ignoring him, but by ignoring his Son. In their hubris they believe they are allowed to approach God the Father directly. Deuteronomy 32:18 KJV
Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 KJV For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; [6] Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

He is the scepter extended to Jew and Gentile alike. If one would live they must accept him. John 3:16

If they recognize him, the men of Israel can move out of their shame which they have confused with righteousness and uncover their head when they pray. 1 Corinthians 11:4 KJV
Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

You can’t run around our Rock, Jesus, to get to Jehovah. And you can’t get to Heaven relying on your Culture (fatness).

Matthew 23:8 KJV
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

Unbelief

From subtle to nonsensical, certain teachers take a knock at our faith.

One preacher stated, God looked away from Jesus on the cross, because he cannot look upon sin. I call nonsense. How will God judge if he cannot look upon sin, even the world’s placed upon his son? How is God all knowing if he cannot see sin? My interpretation of Jesus saying in Matthew 27:46, My God, My God, why have you forsaken me, is this: Jesus was in great pain and distress and he felt very much alone. My suspicion is God never looked away, not for a second, and when his time of wrath and judgment is come, he will recall every moment of Jesus’ suffering.

Another preacher said that Jesus prepared and orchestrated ahead of time his triumphant entrance into Jerusalem. He went so far as to say Jesus set up the placement of the donkey and the availability of the upper room to be discovered by his uninformed disciples. If you cannot believe Jesus knew these thing because God knew them, I think you’re struggling to look for unbelief. Recognizing miracles requires belief that God has power to do them. You can try to limit God the Father or Jesus, but you’re only hurting yourself and gullible listeners. Doubt begets unbelief.

Words that should perk up your ears and actually inspire doubt:

God cannot …

God is not able to …

God must … .
