Appearances matter, now more than ever, especially in this time of promoted gender identity confusion.
A man should not be effeminate. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. A man should not have tattoos. Leviticus 19:28. A man should not have long hair. 1 Corinthians 11:14.
Appearances matter, but so does substance or character. A man must decide between two masters. There are no Ronin. Will it be the Devil or will it be Christ? If we choose Christ and keep his word, we can start with the small things and he will bolster us in the larger. It has been my personal experience that he has been helping me walk before him. I cut out flowery and fruit scented bath and hygiene products and have tried since then to pick products specifically designed and marketed for men. A small change, but Jesus has helped me with bigger fights such as my struggles against nicotine and a porn addiction.
I have heard many people on religious television programming talk about having a covering or the necessity of a pastoral covering. We as Christians do not seek a covering. No man is our head. We have no master except Jesus. 1 Corinthians 11:3.We stand or fall before him alone. And he is gracious to help us stand.
As they sell the prayer shawls on TV, remember it is a shame for a man to pray with his head covered. 1 Corinthians 11:4.
Take every admonition to heart and change what you can to conform to Jesus’ description of a man. A change in appearance can lead to a change of the heart and vice versa.

Jeshurun or Israel has forsaken God, not by ignoring him, but by ignoring his Son. In their hubris they believe they are allowed to approach God the Father directly. Deuteronomy 32:18 KJV

You can’t run around our Rock, Jesus, to get to Jehovah. And you can’t get to Heaven relying on your Culture (fatness).

I recently saw a sign inside a Catholic Church on EWTN that said, Jesus is My Teacher. It caused me to think to myself – for how many people is that really true. How many people are truly learners?

How many people hear his words and how many follow them? Not being a slow student but a quick learner. And not just a quick learner, but a doer.

Don’t seek the least you can do which is to avoid fornication and food offered to idols Acts 21:25, but as a Christian hear all Jesus’ teachings. Hear him when he teaches through Moses and the prophets. Hear him when he teaches through Job. Hear him when he teaches through Paul. Hear him in all the other New and Old Testament authors. Hear him when its Red Letter in your Holy Bible.
The Teacher is Perfect. What’s left? The aptitude of the learner!
On the SALSA channel I saw someone speaking about people needing a covering. He said he needed to know a person’s covering, who their preacher or pastor was.
I don’t know if this is an Hispanic thing or a left over from the influence of the Catholic Church. I tell you a fact. Your preacher or pastor is not your covering. His primary job is to teach the Word of God including the Law.

No one should stand between you and God.
Now if we are talking literal covering. Men should not cover their heads when they pray. 1 Corinthians 11:4. When women pray, they should cover their heads – a simple scarf works. 1 Corinthians 11:5-6.
