Lucky

I used to think being born again meant returning to Christ after living in sin for several years. In fact I considered myself a born again Christian because of this very definition. Now, I think a better term for such a return is either lucky or blessed.

Here’s why. Hebrews 6:4-6 KJV says For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, [6] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

We know with God all things are possible, but Hebrews 6:4-6 is a strong warning against sin. In fact it’s scary for those of us that know the truth. How far do we have to go before God will not take us back? According to these scriptures there is a point where it’s impossible to return or to be renewed again unto repentance. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to find that point.

Sweet Hour

There is an old hymn entitled Sweet Hour of Prayer.

I’ve sung the song many times at Church, but here’s the truth, I’ve never in my life prayed for an hour.

I’m not advocating you follow that example. But here’s good news for people like me: Matthew 6:9-13 takes only a minute or two to pray and it’s how our Lord asked us to pray.

Further good news can be found in Matthew 6:7-8 KJV But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. [8] Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Thus Saith The Lord

Let me be clear, Thus Saith the Lord is just my post title, I am not claiming the Lord told me to write the following:

Many and I mean most of the teachers and preachers on television claim to have a word from God.

It sounds something like this: The Lord gave me a word, The Lord gave me a download, I felt impressed by the Lord, or even Thus Saith the Lord.

Be wary. It’s possible some are telling the truth, but it is my impression most are liars.

Revelation 21:8 KJV says, But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Malpractice

The Bible says in Luke 11:52 KJV
Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

Who are the lawyers? Any teacher or preacher of the Word of God is a lawyer. It is impossible to teach or preach the Word without practicing law. Unfortunately, Christianity is rampant with malpractice.

How do they prevent others from entering into the Kingdom of Heaven: misinformation and incorrect doctrine. They bring people to the door. They teach a “Prayer of Salvation” and do not usher the people through the door.

Baptism is crucial to salvation. Mark 16:16. It is being born again. Only after baptism do you enter into the Kingdom of God.

Be careful to not place anyone between yourself and the door of Heaven. Study on your own to show yourself approved. 2 Timothy 2:15. Remember James 1:5 KJV,
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Prosperity

Have you ever wondered why the mega religion channels like TBN and LoveWorld prosper and take in millions of dollars each year? Why are they not persecuted instead of expanding?

It is because from Pastor Chris to Pat Robertson of CBN, to Daystar, none of them preach the True Gospel. They do not understand what it means to be baptized by the Holy Ghost.

What it isn’t. It isn’t something that happens 50 days after you say the Sinners Prayer. It isn’t something evidenced by speaking gibberish.

It is being baptized by complete immersion in water by another who says while you are under the water: I baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38) or I baptize you in the name of The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19). When you arise from the surface of the water you are born again. Either baptism is acceptable because God the Father, the Holy Ghost, and Jesus Christ are one. There is not even a requirement that the baptizer be a believer, but if you want them to say the correct words it might be helpful. It might also help to have a loved one present to witness that the correct words were said. I am hesitant to call them magic words, but they are essential to the act of baptism. I suppose the other person could say the words just before submerging you as well.

Do you want evidence of the Holy Ghost? Accept the truth spoken by Jesus and his servants in the Holy Bible KJV. Further evidence is found in keeping that truth. Jesus will help if you remember to call upon his name.

The Gift of Tongues

So here’s the bottom line. If it’s gibberish to you the speaker, it’s probably gibberish to everyone else, including God. Many of you know you’re making it up as you go. Stop. Claiming to speak in tongues is like claiming to be a prophet when you’re not one. You speak nonsense because you want to, because you’ve seen others do it, and it’s easy to imitate.

If you’re actually moved by the Holy Ghost to speak in tongues, then do so. 1 Corinthians 14 tells us it’s possible, but it also says to pray for interpretation, and from what I’ve seen on television, interpretation is rare. In fact it says in 1 Corinthians 14:28 KJV, But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

Scared Straight

I keep hearing preachers defining the “Fear of the Lord” as reverential awe. In my opinion this downplays what we know in our heart the word fear actually means.

According to Merriam Webster it can mean reverential awe, but it also means anxious concern and reason for alarm.

Jesus said in Matthew 10:28 KJV, And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Paul said in Philippians 2:12 KJV
Wherefore, my beloved, … work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Does that sound like reverential awe or does it sound like what you know in your heart fear means, it means I’m afraid. I’m scared. My eternal salvation is in jeopardy if I continue in sin.

Jude 1:23 KJV says, And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

There is certainly a place for reverential awe. There is also a time and place for realizing eternity is at stake, a time for reasonable, genuine fear.

The First Condition

God’s love is not unconditional. If you believe it is, I suggest you read John 3:16 KJV:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Read it again. Did you catch the first condition to everlasting life?

Belief. One must believe Jesus is the Son of God.

Power in The Blood

There is an old hymn entitled There is Power in the Blood.

There is indeed power in the blood of Jesus, but do you know how to utilize it?

When you are baptized or born again you are immediately under the blood of Jesus, you arise from the surface of the water sin free, cleansed of sins past. Acts 22:16, Roman’s 3:25

Yet, what do you do about future sin? First strive against it, but we are human, and God provides a way to stay under the blood in 1 John 1:9!

Would you be free from the burden of sin? There’s power in the blood, power in the blood – but you do need to know how to use it!

I Study Greek and Hebrew

I study Greek and Hebrew, says Kathie Lee Gifford on Daystar. My thought, why? Do you like to waste your time? Are you fascinated by new meanings discovered by so called rabbis? Are you planning on visiting Israel or Greece?

Why study Greek and Hebrew? In regard to the Bible I know I can’t do any better than the Holy Ghost did through learned men in translating the KJV. When modern pastors say something like do you know what it really says in the Greek. My immediate thought is yes, whatever the King James Version says it is.

Don’t let pastors or rabbis who think they know better than God knock your biblical foundation, which is sure in the KJV. They like to come up with new stories and new meanings to keep their followers interested. The Bible tells of the ancient Athenians in Acts 17:21 KJV
who …spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing. 2 Timothy 4:3 predicts people will have itching ears and will not keep sound doctrine.

I was wondering why God blessed the English speaker with a perfect translation in the KJV? I think that question is similar to why did he choose the Jews first? The answer is that was his desire.
