You Already Know

While principalities of darkness and people work to obfuscate, change, and confuse the meaning of repentance, you already know the truth. You know in your heart what repentance means, because repentance is a matter of the heart.

Repentance means to be sorry for your sin, desiring to turn from evil behavior unto righteous living with a Holy God.

You know inherently that you need to be cleansed of past sins. Which is why after learning of the grace of God and good news of salvation, we seek out confession and water baptism.

Proverbs 28:13 KJV says, He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. And 1 Corinthians 11:31 KJV tells us, For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

The heart convicts, while the mind and spirit can produce change. Call upon the Lord. God himself will help you walk in the light.

Inescapable Synonyms

In this age of cancel culture, people are trying to redefine biblical words in order to make them undesirable or just weaken their true meaning. Definitions matter. If evil can change fear of the Lord to respect and awe of the Lord and confess your sins to simply acknowledge them the Devil is making serious strides in spreading misinformation and misunderstanding. What’s the truth?

  • Religion is another word for Duty
  • Legalism is another word for Obedience
  • Fear is another word for Terror. Terrible is a correct adjective used to describe God
  • Holy is another word for Righteous
  • Righteous is another word for Obedient
  • Love is another word for Caring
  • Caring is another word for Affection
  • Placing conditions on love and affection is natural and appropriate.

Before you believe those that say this word means such and such according to recent studies of Greek or Hebrew, learn what it means in English. If you have doubts on the meaning of a word check your Dictionary and Thesaurus before they too get changed and a new and so called better version comes out.

It Has To Be Biblical

It has to be biblical. I couldn’t agree more. But this statement from a speaker doesn’t mean you will always get the truth. They could still be espousing erroneous theology.

What you need to watch out for or indications of errant doctrine:

The word doesn’t mean what you think it means. In Greek or Hebrew it actually means this. Or simply it doesn’t mean what you think it means, it means what I’m about to tell you. For example, forever doesn’t mean forever. It means a certain period of time.

These verses don’t apply to you. Context changes the meaning. These verses only applied at that time period or to a certain group of people.

It doesn’t say it specifically, but common sense tells you it is so. An example of this would be the introduction of a distinction between public sin and private sin.

Be careful and be wary. I feel like most people should know the truth when they hear it, but the scripture does tell us hearing cometh by the word of God, so maybe some people are just not blessed to hear.
