Definitive

Satan’s plans are nefarious and can at times be very subtle. One of his projects is changing the meaning of various words. If you hear his definitions often enough you might just believe them.

  • Religion is bad
  • Legalism is evil
  • Love is unconditional
  • Male is a sexist distinction
  • Female is a personal distinction
  • Sexuality is a choice
  • Life is after birth and before senility
  • White Lie
  • Half Truth

Changing the meaning of words leads to confusion and confusion leads to sin.

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 5:20 KJV Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

But what if you’ve been misled and don’t know the difference?

The Joy Mystique

The Preacher’s Snowblower’s Union has devised a new concept to confuse the masses. I have heard several preachers in the past month preach on the unique, rare, and magnificent qualities of Christian joy.

Over the years I have seen many preachers attempt to change the meaning of something by going to the Greek. How can you argue with the original language? Now they daringly attempt to change the meaning of Joy by attacking the English directly.

What does joy mean? It’s not the same as happiness the preachers say. It’s mystical and it’s rare. According to Merriam Webster:

Full Definition
  • 1a : the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires : delight
b : the expression or exhibition of such emotion : gaiety
  • 2: a state of happiness or felicity :bliss
  • 3: a source or cause of delight

Repentance

I have heard preachers over the years give various definitions for repentance. I think it’s a little like love, you’ll know it when you feel it.

But I don’t mean to wax too philosophical. Here is repentance according to God:

Proverbs 28:13 KJV He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

True repentance is not only feeling sorry for your sins or actions, it is also not repeating them.
