What Shall We Do?

What shall we do to be saved? The simple and clear answer is found in Acts 22:16 KJV,

And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Now there are crusades that claim to have saved millions. They usually practice unscriptural methods of salvation such as asking for a decision card or a prayer of salvation. Why don’t they start others off with a firm foundation? It is because they don’t know the Truth themselves. This leaves another glaring question. How many of those souls never found the narrow gate because they were never washed of their sins, because they weren’t invited into the family of God at the point of conversion?

The start often determines the finish. All of the major crusades whether in California or Africa should not only preach baptism from the start they should practice it. I found that a large crusade in California hosts baptism on the beach a few weeks after the conference. How many souls are lost between the crusade and the baptisms?

I’m not saying decision cards aren’t a good way to connect you to a local Church and I’m not saying a prayer of salvation can’t be the beginning of a relationship with Christ. What I am saying is that the correct knowledge of the Gospel includes baptism for the remission of sins into the body and family of Christ. It is crucial.

Jesus said, in Matthew 28:19-20 KJV, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Let There Be Light

I just watched Kevin Sorbo’s new movie today. It was an okay movie, but at the baptism scene I said, Let There be Deeper Water!

Baptism is not a public declaration of faith. It is the point where we join God’s family. The water not only represents Jesus’s blood, but resurrection, and God’s plenty. The Earth’ surface is 2/3 water. Yet people today actually practice non immersion baptism.

Why? They do not understand baptism. People get baptised multiple times. Which one counted, if any?

Baptism requires an age of understanding. One must confess Jesus is Messiah repenting of their past sins. These elements require an acquired knowledge, who Jesus is, the difference between right and wrong. Age of understanding may vary among individuals, but baptizing an infant accomplishes nothing.

The act is both admission of faith and submission to the Lord, it is the shared death and resurrection of our Savior.

It is correctly performed by immersion in water by another, that person saying I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost or in the name of Jesus Christ.

The man, woman, or child of appropriate age arises from the water a new creature in Christ.
