As a Practical Matter

There are some deep matters in the Holy Bible and this article is not intended to detract from any of them. It is intended to simplify, explain, and promote the sacrifice of Jesus.

Jesus died showing us how to walk before our LORD, the Heavenly Father. He walked in the truth and did not sin.

He was killed by those who would ask, what is truth and not care for the answer.

He was killed by those who could not or would not give up their sin.

He was killed by people who were afraid of judgment.

Jesus wanted us to walk in the light: Accept the truth, confess your sins one to another, be baptized by immersion in water in the name of Jesus or in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and strive every day not to sin.

Simply put, Christianity and how you live it out depends on how much you value Jesus’ sacrifice.

Does it matter that Jesus was God? Does it matter he was the anointed one? Is there really something special about his blood? Should it matter he was resurrected? These are a few of the deeper matters this article will not cover.

He died showing us how to live!

Citing the Book of Job

Context does matter. If you see someone citing a quote from the book of Job, it may require further inquiry on the reader or hearer’s part.

It matters greatly who is speaking. Is it Job, God, Job’s friends, or Elihu. When we see a quote from Job it can be incorrectly assumed that it is Job himself speaking or the word of the Lord.

In my opinion Elihu was a self-righteous young man ultimately taken away by the whirlwind. Yet some quote him as gospel.

For someone reading Job or a quote from Job you must discern and weigh the words in question.

Keep in mind what God said in Job 42:7 KJV: And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

So when considering the book of Job, God’s words and Job’s words are of the most importance. Other speakers are of questionable value and accuracy.

Another Gospel

Below you will find erroneous doctrine that I have heard on TBN recently. Remember – an exaggerated truth is a lie.

Just one drop of Jesus blood cleanses the whole world. – If this were sufficient, Christ need not have died. Jesus blood was indeed precious, but do you know why? It’s the value you place on his sacrifice. It’s the value God the Father placed on it.

God loves you so much he would have sent Jesus to die on the cross for you if you were the only person that ever existed. I doubt it. I’m hesitant to say he would have come up with a better plan, but the Truth is God did have a better plan. He planned for many children, coming to Salvation through Jesus, not just one person.
